About Me

Daniel is an Ivy League educated, experienced SAT Writing / Critical Reading, ISEE Verbal / Math and K-12 tutor. He has taught ISEE test prep since 2012, and his students have gone on to elite universities and highly competitive private, middle & high schools in both Los Angeles and New York City. He will be teaching screenwriting at Lynn University this fall. Daniel is an accomplished television writer, producer, and journalist. He is passionate about police procedurals, crime dramas, and scripted programming. Daniel’s career began as a crime reporter, investigative journalist, and fact checker. In 2020, Daniel served as the Creator/Development Producer/ Writer for the First Watch true crime show Living a Nightmare. He wrapped the true crime series True Crime: Citizen Detective for Sundance TV where he served as a writer/researcher and is the co-creator of the Docu-Series Mr. Uno. Daniel was a staff writer for J.H Wyman’s and J.J. Abrams’ FOX crime series ALMOST HUMAN, and Steven Bochco’s TNT crime series MURDER IN THE FIRST. In 2022, Daniel was selected as a 2022 WGAW TV Writer Access Diversity and Inclusion Project semi-finalist.

Education

I hold a Master of Science in Journalism from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dramatic Writing from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Teaching Experience

I have over 15 years of experience tutoring for the ISEE, SSAT, College Applications, SAT reading and writing, AP history, K-12 English, and K-8 math, helping students gain admission to competitive private and charter schools and elite universities. In addition to my tutoring experience, I have a strong commitment to teaching, tutoring, and mentorship. I will be an Adjunct Professor at Lynn University this fall. I have taught screenwriting at the Big Apple Film Festival and currently work with Roadmap Writers, where I provide developmental notes and guide emerging writers through the writing and revision process. As a WGA West mentor, I support new Guild members as they manage the early stages of their professional writing careers. I’ve also Guest Lectured on television pilot writing at Florida Atlantic University.

Interests

Daniel spends much of his time rereading the books of Jim Thompson, watching Korean Crime films, and following his beloved New York Mets.
